Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless chicken thighs or breasts cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper

Equipment

  • Frying pan or skillet
  • Tongs or spatula

Method

  1. Start by patting the chicken pieces dry with a paper towel, then season them lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering and it makes a sizzling sound when you add the chicken.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the hot oil, laying them flat in an even layer. Fry until golden brown and crispy on one side, about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Flip the chicken using tongs or a spatula, and fry the other side until equally golden and cooked through, about another 4-5 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium and add a little more oil if necessary. Toss in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, making the kitchen smell warmly of garlic.
  6. Pour in the honey and soy sauce, stirring continuously. Let the mixture simmer gently until it thickens into a glossy, sticky glaze, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, tossing to coat each piece thoroughly with the honey garlic glaze. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce is sticky and clings beautifully to the chicken.
  8. Transfer the glazed chicken to a serving plate, spooning any extra sauce over the top. Serve hot, enjoying the sticky, flavorful exterior and tender interior.
